  • Ruth Caroline Brumwell January 23, 1925 - February 27, 2014 Ruth was born and raised on the family homestead near Major, Saskatchewan. Ruth was loved by all who met her; she was a genuine, kind and gentle woman who loved to visit with everyone. Ruth loved all types of art and music but was especially fond of bluegrass and never passed up the change to attend a festival or concert. During her years as a member of the Ladies Union and the Woman of the Moose, Ruth made lifelong friends and went on many an adventure. In her younger years she was an avid curler, enjoying spending time with friends and attending bonspiels. A little known fact is that Ruth was an amateur race car driver; she made many a fast mile between her homes in Balzac and Loverna. Ruth was an amazing woman who valued her family above all else, she was a fierce defender and advocate for her grandchildren and could always be counted on to lend a supportive ear and dispense gentle advice and handy life tips when needed. Ruth will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her son Bert (Heather); son-in-law Reid (Myrna); eleven grandchildren Deane, Scott, Andrea, Michelle, Shannon, Melanie, Jen, Rob, Jaycee, Kylee, and McKenzie; sixteen great-grandchildren; sisters Shirley; bothers Bill (Rosina), Bruce (Maizie) and Earl; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Alexander and Katherine Minchin; husband Allan; son Alex; daughter Doreen; friend and companion Willie; three sisters Pat, and two infant sisters; brothers Eldon, Lorne and Elmer; and brother-in-law Albert. She will also be sorely missed by numerous friends and family. Memorial tributes may be directed to Seniors Secret Service, #1, 6025 - 12 Street SE, Calgary, Alberta, T2H 2K1; or a charity of the donor's choice.
