  • Birth: Apr. 2, 1895 Fairview Sanpete County Utah, USA Death: Jan. 13, 1977 Provo Utah County Utah, USA Melvin was my 2nd cousin through his father, Martin Mormon Miner. Melvin was born on April 2, 1895 in Fairview, Utah, the son of Martin Mormon Miner and Evelyn Brown.  He married Pearl Christensen on Febuary 14, 1917 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Melvin was an Electrical Contractor for 57 years. He was the first bishop of the Long Beach Park View LDS Ward. He was first counselor in two stake presidencies in the Long Beach and East Long Beach Stakes.  He filled a mission with his wife and was counselor to the president of the Southern States Mission. He was first president of the Long Beach Contractors Association.  Melvin passed away on Thursday, January 13, 1977 at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Utah of Cancer. He resided at 533 Orlena Avenue in the Belmont Shore neighborhood of Long Beach, California at the time of his death. Funeral services were held on Monday, January 17, 1977 at 11:00 a.m. in the Parkview Ward, East Long Beach Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 4142 Cerritos Avenue in Long Beach, California under the direction of Bishop Clyde Eggleson. A viewing was held from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the Stake Center. Melvin was laid to rest following the conclusion of the Funeral Services at the Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, California.
