- Roy was employed at the Great Northern Railway since 1920. After marriage they lived four months in Butte, Montana. Transfered to Great Falls in Oct 1925 and lived at 725 9th St. N until 1929. At this time they opened up a snack bar and ice cream parlor in Cascade, MT about 30 miles west of Great Falls. They sod it in 1930. In April 1929 they moved to 925 5th Ave NW, Great Falls, then were able to buy a home at 708 3rd Ave SW and moved there in November of 1929. When the depression caused bumping of jobs and none was available in Great Falls, they transfered to Havre in 1932. Lived at 1141 2nd St in Havre and two other places there. Roy was transferred back to Great Falls to the G. N. office in 1935. The family lived in Cascade and Roy commuted the 30 miles to work. From 1940-1946 the family lived at 309 4th St N running an apartment building inherited at death of Roy's mother. In 1947 they bought a home at 611 6th St N. Lived there until 1956 when the consolidation of rail offices moved Roy to Whitefish, MT as Assistant Supervisor. Roy and Violet lived at 907 10th St. in that town for one year and then bought a home at #4 Birch Hills in Whitefish. They were in the new home but a month when Roy died. Roy had been an active in local bowling circles and for several years was secretary of the Great Falls Bowling Association. He was commanding officer of the Civil Air Patrol in 1947.
