- INVESTIGATE: Identity> It is unlikely that the name of Basina is correct as it is the feminine form ot her first husband's name. http://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/MEROVINGIANS.htm v1.3 Updated 12 March 2008 There are a number of assertions that this Basina was the wife of Clodion "le Cheveleu" and that she had a daughter by the same name and that her father was Weldelphus and that her mother was named Basina of Saxony. Most of this has come from Anderson's royal Genealogies pub 1732 table 374. This record has no source documentation and cannot be verified fro accuracy. The closest one comes to primary documents is Gregory of Tours which makes no mention of a wife for Clodion "le Chevleu". There is also no mention of any other individual by the name of Basina in these early records. The records from Thuringia are also silent on Basina having any children by Basin (Bisinus). As to there being a Basina of Saxony (the mother of Basina of Thuringia) I have seen no crediable documented source that verifies her existence.
